Portugal’s most important museum for contemporary art is located in the beautiful gardens of the Serralves Foundation. Designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira (Pritzker 1992), it offers a world-class agenda of exhibits, performances, educational activities and other events. One of the concerns of this institution is to reach the entire community and to this end, each year it hosts Serralves em Festa, one of Europe’s largest festivals of contemporary artistic expression. In addition to the museum and gardens, we recommend a visit to the Casa de Serralves which is a unique example of Art Deco architecture.
